Privacy is an increasingly important topic for municipalities and public organizations. Therefore, Live Aware offers Privacy By Default Crowd Counting Tool installations.
Additionally, these Sensor Systems perform measurements purely based on signal packets and signal strength. The Crowd Counting Tool does not use cameras or personally identifiable information, making it a highly privacy-friendly solution for crowd monitoring and crowd analytics.
Furthermore, organizations can choose from several installation and privacy configuration options depending on the operational requirements and privacy needs of the environment.
Crowd Counting Tool Privacy By Design
The Privacy By Design Crowd Counting Tool uses Correlation Sensor Systems that process anonymous attributes received by the Sensor Systems. Within the dashboard, this information is further anonymized and pseudonymized by identifying whether the detection concerns BLE and optionally TPMS or WiFi signals.
This allows the Crowd Counting Tool to perform crowd correlation across multiple Sensor Systems. In practice, this means the system can visualize crowd movement, crowd flow, and directional patterns between different locations.
By combining multiple Sensor Systems, operators gain valuable insights into how crowds move through an environment in real time.
- Crowd Counting Tool Privacy By Design +
The Privacy By Design Plus Crowd Counting Tool uses RF Sensor Systems that operate through passive BLE and Bluetooth signal detection.
To prevent duplicate Crowd Counting within a configurable time frame, the Sensor Systems temporarily store RF attributes and signal packets for up to 60 minutes. After this period, the data is automatically removed.
A real-time anonymous ID is generated and securely sent to the dashboard. This anonymous ID is further pseudonymized by identifying whether the signal originates from BLE and optionally TPMS or WiFi detection.
The combination of RF type and anonymous ID can be temporarily retained for a configurable period ranging from 1 to 24 hours. After this configured period, the information is automatically deleted.
This approach allows the Crowd Counting Tool to significantly reduce duplicate counting while maintaining a strong privacy-first architecture.
- Crowd Counting Tool Privacy By Design ++
The Privacy By Design Plus Plus Crowd Counting Tool is the most privacy-friendly Crowd Counting solution offered by Live Aware.
Additionally, these RF Sensor Systems passively listen to the radio frequencies used by BLE and Bluetooth devices. Based on the number of detected signals within a specific range, the Crowd Counting Tool measures crowd density and identifies crowd presence in real time.
Furthermore, the system calculates distance estimation through signal strength analysis. With an accuracy level of approximately 90%, the Crowd Counting Tool can determine whether an object is located between 1 and 30 meters from the Sensor System.
Moreover, directional antennas allow organizations to accurately define and segment environments and monitoring zones for improved Crowd Control Security operations.
Because anonymization takes place directly at the edge within the Sensor System itself, this solution does not support duration measurements or duplicate count prevention over longer periods. In addition, correlation between multiple Sensor Systems is not possible in this configuration.
However, this approach provides the highest possible level of privacy protection while still enabling accurate Crowd Counting and real-time crowd density monitoring.
